How orders fill, partly fill, or fail
Follow an instruction from submission through open, partial, final, and cancellation states.
Submission and acceptance
The app first sends an instruction through the broker system. A receipt proves the command was handled, not that shares traded.
Partial execution
If only part of the requested quantity is available under your price instruction, the order can fill in pieces. Each execution has its own quantity and price.
Final states and cancellation
Filled, rejected, expired, and cancelled are final outcomes. A cancellation request is only a request until the connected market evidence confirms it.
An open order can fill while your cancellation request is travelling, so Request sent must not be displayed as Cancelled.
Three things to keep.
- 01Submitted is not filled
- 02One order can have several executions
- 03Cancellation needs confirmation
What should you check after a partial fill?

Check the filled quantity, remaining quantity, execution prices, order status, cash or position effect, and whether the remainder stays open.
